"A Volkswagen Club for Like Minded People!"

Ultimate Dubs 07: Reviewed by Dom (Dum Dum)

The day started very early with everyone meeting up at my house to the smell of bacon butty’s and coffee made by my wonderful girlfriend Rachel (Added by herself!). Once drivers were fuelled and ready to go we set off to the motorway with Bob the only one knowing the address. After 20 miles the convoy was no more. I was my usual self, shouting at the sat-nav and calling everyone back so slower drivers like Phil could catch up. After 100 miles all was well, we’d arranged to meet at a service station but I’d driven of in a mood with Rach trying to not to kill me, everyone else seemed to be having a pleasant drive, cheapo’s in the Audi were relaxing to sounds of the 60’s courtesy of the owner Bob’s dad. Phil’s mk2 was enjoying the sound of Booth n Bezz trying to work out the best ‘I Spy’, with Kelly wanting a mute button.

We arrived with time to spare and with cars parked on the correct stands we had a look around at the other clubs and we all agreed we were the smallest.

As for the show itself there were three area’s to walk around. Firstly the car park, where we saw some very interesting vehicle’s and some that should have been disowned, ie a chav’d V6 mk4 Golf unsure who owned it but they need a slap for it. But with some cool air-cooled campers in there it made for an interesting half hour walk. Secondly the out door display area for club stands, RAT looks and for sale cars. The club stands were very interesting with the seriously well organised (flag and sun strip crew), polishing mad clubs (who can shine the best) to the lads with porn plastered inside their cars (nuff said). The RAT stand was a sight for sore eye’s they was an array of mk1 polo’s an early Passat and a mk1 Golf in primer (best car at the show if you ask me).

With the outside display area looking very good we went inside to a world of bling, the standard of vehicle finishing was amazing, they was a lot of trailer dolls (car that never drive to a show) and some daily drivers that had were just as good. The lighting was hard to adjust the camera setting to and after an hour inside my eyes were finding it hard to absorb the car pornography displayed in front of me, so with sore eyes and a damp pair of underpants, I did the Yorkshire thing of sitting down with a cup of tea (which was very over priced) and started to bitch about cars I didn’t like. Booth was I his own little world trying to hide his wet pant problem as I’d got earlier. Phil been Phil was very upset there wasn’t a lot of 5 door mk2 golf’s and that Kelly (his other half) was been true Yorkshire and making a point of telling the owners what she liked and didn’t like about there cars (which is so funny as Kelly is 5ft and only knows a little about cars but a lot about handbags). Bob was clicker happy with his ‘disposable’ camera (don’t ever ask Bob about his camera, it takes too long to explain!), getting in some very good shots from hard to bend down places. Ben was been Ben looking at the nice cars but paying more attention to the girls laid over the bonnets of the feature cars and in the trade stalls. Matty was in a daze due to the fact he’d been woken from his pit carried into the Audi, driven to a new place and told to not talk to strangers. With this in mind Matty was amazed how many cars and people fit in his bedroom. We all met up around lunch time outside and due to Rach been a women and been organised she’d made a pack up sandwiches, which everyone decided to my horror they would eat my share.

After everyone had eaten my lunch, we had another wonder around the outdoor area, Ben paying most attention to the porned up cars. With everything explored by 2 o’clock most were bored, Dave being fast asleep in the back of the Audi (eyes open!). We decided to set off home, with a nice steady pace on the motorway as Phil had only budgeted on a £20 round trip!

A.V.D Summary:

OK for the first show of the season, but due to lacking air cooled vehicles and the odd layout of the display areas we feel attendance for future years is not a priority for the club, but if nothing else to do, it’s worth a look.
