About Us

The Beginning

It all started in the year 1998 when Dom got his first car at the age of 16. It was a Mini Metro, awesome. Which soon got written off once he learnt to drive. But the love for cars had taken over, and Dom became friends with people that had the same love for cars as he did. Many of these already owned VW's which lead to Dom getting his first Golf mk2 8v. Since then, some of the group have left and new friends have come in, but all have had a common interest in Volkswagens or cars. In 2006 this group of friends decided to make a Volkswagen club as there seemed to be a lack of clubs around the area and many people wanting one. Dom and his younger brother Matt set work and made the first website (this is the second) and eventually got the club where it is today, a group of like minded people who admire Volkswagen's, visit shows as the club, form new friendships and just have a good time.

The Present

Currently the Club is trying to make a name for itself. The Aire Valley area is pretty big, but at the moment most of the members are located in the Bingley area. We are trying to reach out to more VDubbers in the stretch from Bradford to Skipton and possibly further if people want to join. We are starting to organise club meet nights, that will happen once a month at a pub in the Aire Valley area. Details of each meet will be on the home page from month to month.

The Future

Currently the club is expanding, we are working on increasing the members and the interest of Volkswagens in our area. The plan for the next year is to start regular club meets, bring out a quaterly or monthly news letter that will be emailed out to each member. We will be visiting more events throughout the UK and possibly odd event abroad. We are looking at Belgium in May 2008 and Germany in Sept 2008, but please look at the Events page for details of all the Events we plan to go to.

If the club becomes a real success then we already have plans of our own event. We have a location lined up and support from some companies to arrange this if there is enough interest.
